I’m Ulla, a student, online yoga model, and fresh-baked teacher of Purna Yoga. You might see me around at studio or online every now and then, as Purna Yoga Helsinki is like my second home in Finland!
My yoga journey began here in 2018. At first I was seeking for some muscle stretching & releasing exercises, and I tried the first yoga in my life at Purna Yoga Helsinki. Soon I realised what yoga offered was beyond physical benefits, it saved me and made me wanting to become a better person.
When I needed to dump something out from my head, I booked a class. I couldn’t stop yawning every time when we opened up our chests and hips; my tears were dropping down many times because the guidance given by the teachers touched something hidden deeply inside; I started to accept myself, feel more, listen more, and I learnt to practice self-care and self-love.
Purna Yoga has transformed me so much. Respond to simple greetings like “How are you?” used to be so tough for me, and now you might notice I like to share, talk, and laugh happily so much! Laughing out heartily so that the eyes are squeezed into one line, and all the teeth and the throat are seen by others has become my post-yoga nature!
About my teaching journey, I took the teacher training twice and graduated finally in March 2021. I’m grateful to have all of you witnessed my growing and developing process. As one participant in this yoga transmitters group, I want to transmit what I have received from my teachers and yoga pals to more people. I expect myself to give the class that I also want to book, and to become the teacher I also want to follow in the future.
With soft tone and mild pace, I give instructions from not only the teaching manual but also my own practice – as I’m not far from a blank beginner, I remember still quite well all the experiences during the journey, and I can’t wait to share all to my students!
On my journey I realised yoga is for everyone. We do not need to be lean & fit or have flexibility & strength, the only pre-requisite is the openness & willingness to give it a try and feel from our hearts. No matter you have any yoga experience or not, you are more than welcome to join my class, and practice, explore, share, and grow together.
See you in class!
