Heartfull™ Meditation

by Nicola Moberg

In Purna Yoga we wish to make you whole again,

but what does it mean to be whole? If you’ve ever in your life felt something’s missing, even though you have everything you want, you’re healthy, you’ve got good relationships, you’re happy, but still, you can’t figure out what it is what’s making you feel empty.

Yoga and its ancient tradition has taught us to unite, to bring mind, body and spirit into one. That’s union, that’s yoga. You might’ve done yoga and tried out different styles, it’s fun and good for fitness, but did it make you super content about life itself? Did you feel you’ve learned how to live purpose and joyful? Isn’t that what we all want, be happy and have a meaning?

Co-founder of Purna Yoga Aadil Palkhivala was himself in a yoga system which didn’t support the wholeness of the person and therefore he and his wife created what we have today, Purna Yoga, Purna is derived from Sanskrit and means complete. His wife Savitri added a precious gift called Heartfull™ Meditation to this system, after she experienced sad and tragic events happening to her and her family. Both creators of Purna Yoga felt something’s missing in their yoga and now share with us their own unique experiences.

Heartfull™ Meditation is one of the four petals of Purna Yoga, it’s a meditation for the 21st century, because it fits to our lifestyle today where everything’s on the go. This meditation techniques are meant to be practiced and taken like a snack throughout the day.

Heartfull™ Meditation is not meant to quiet the mind and bring you into a blissful state. It’s meant to direct your mind into the heart chakra so you can recognize your own wisdom. It’s meant to help you follow your intuition, your guidance, your inner voice. It’s meant to create the life you always wanted to live, happy, meaningful or whatever you choose. In the end it’s meant to evolve us all as a human race.

The connection to our heart is the missing link to a life of wholeness and it is with the other four petals, applied philosophy, alignment-base asana and nutriton&lifestyle that we may experience our complete self.

At Purna Yoga Helsinki we practice some of the snacks in every class. We also offer meditation courses and workshops with Tove Palmgren who has been closely connected to Savitri and practiced with her on a regular basis for the last 9 years.

In this short video Savitri explains in a simple way what she does:

I would be happy to get your comments and how you perceive meditation, how it has helped you and what other meditations you have practiced.
