Sri Aurobindo said “All life is yoga”! How can we live yoga all the time? Generally, we spend an hour or two on the mat, but living, we do all the time. Therefore, everything we do in our lives is an opportunity to practice yoga.
The first things I learned on my mat is to be conscious of how I move my body and through observing this process I created more awareness. Through this awareness I started making different lifestyle choices, looking at old habits and change them as much as possible. Lifestyle is making the right choices for yourself.
There are a few things we really want to stay away from if choosing to live healthy which is part of yoga:
Eating non-organically grown foods are often sprayed with toxins, pesticides and herbicides and whatnot, those chemicals are harmful for the body. We avoid cosmetic and cleaning products which contain parabens, phthalates, synthetic colors and fragrances, all those chemicals which are hard to pronounce damage not only our skin, but also our entire body plus the environment.
Protect yourself from EMF, electromagnetic fields are messing with our own magnetism and our bodies and the nervous system is strongly affected. If you’ve ever spend too much in front of the screen you know what I am talking about.
Also stay away from toxic cook wear like Teflon and microwave ovens. Use little plastic and never heat it up. Aadil recommends to stay away from C.A.T.S 😊. Caffeine, alcohol, tabaco and sugar, those are stimulants and all we try to do with our practice is to calm the nervous system, stimulants do the opposite, they leave us agitated.
In the world we live in it’s not always easy to make the perfect choices, with another quote from Aadil I feel it is possible, he said: “do what we can and smile at the rest”. Making small changes one at the time is easier if feeling overwhelmed by all the “don’ts”. Our bodies are miraculous systems and positive thoughts and feelings of gratitude are proven to be as important as eating well.
With this, all four petals of Purna Yoga fuse together as it is through the philosophy a yoga student gets a guideline to even start a lifestyle which enhanced his practice, through meditation the qualities of the heart strengthen, and through asana we become grounded and confident.
